Rhine Valley

Our drive from Trier to the Rhine Valley was beautiful.  Lots of vineyards and rolling green hills.  Hard to describe just how breathtaking this part of Germany is.

We ended up in the town of Bacharach to catch a Rhine River cruise.

My boyfriend Rick Steves recommends doing the River Cruise from Bacharach to St. Goar.  We didn't realize that there were other options when we bought our tickets and ended up going the opposite direction to Rudesheim.  We definitely enjoyed it but it makes me want to go back and do the one to St. Goar to compare the two.

There are tons of old castles on the Rhine.

But this is what kept my girls entertained on the boat.  Almost looks like a fake background behind them.

A Castle with a trailer park underneath it.  Something about these two things just does not seem to go together.

She is such a Daddy's girl.

The lines in front of this castle are grape vines.  All along the Rhine the grapes are grown down the mountain. I would like to see how they harvest the grapes.  And yes we did buy some wine to add to our collection.

At least the girls are looking at each other in this attempt of the family photo.

On our way out of town we pulled off to the side to get a better look at this view.

Just a gorgeous area and I am glad that my Dad and Janice got to experience it with us.
