Hard to believe that a week ago today I was headed to the doctor only to find out that he wanted to induce me on Friday. So Friday the 13th Payson Bradford came into the world at 6 pounds 20 inches.
To say I was surprised by the induction would be an understatement. Although I am not typically one to get upset when things don't work out exactly like I planned. (I am not too much of a planner.) When it came to when Payson was coming I had a plan. My mom was coming on the 27th and I was determined that Miss Payson wouldn't come until closer to that date ( my due date was the 25th).
But things like me getting the flu, the ultrasound showing that Payson had only gained 4 oz in one week and my constant contractions meant that my Doctor thought it was time for Miss Payson to make her debut. Looking back I am just so happy that she is here and healthy. She is tiny but she is perfect.
And she is so blessed to have two big Sisters that adore her.
Carolyn keeps asking when is Payson going to do more than sleep and eat.
I assure her that pretty soon Payson will be taking her toys and clothes just like Sidney.
While in the hospital she had to wear the lovely German outfits that they provided. She is in about three layers of velour right now.
Everything went so smoothly with the delivery. If I had not been induced I don't know if we would have been as calm when we arrived at the hospital. I don't know what it is about Brian but this is the second child that he has helped deliver. The midwife looked at him and said Dad would you like to help. Of course Brian jumped right in.
She is such a good little eater so I am sure she will be putting on the pounds before I know it. But I think of her as my little peanut right now.
In Germany they decorate the front of your house when you have a baby. We came home to our neighbors having done this for us. Carolyn was all worried when it rained today that all of the clothes were getting wet. She could not understand why we were just leaving Payson's clothes outside.
We thought Payson's eyes were looking darker at first but now they are looking more blue. We will see if she ends up being our one brown eyed girl.
Right now we are in baby land. Waking up three times a night, trying to figure out how to navigate three kids and loving the sweet little baby smell and precious baby noises that go along with it.
