The inside of the cave was full of different vendors and Christmas decorations. Music was playing throughout and it still cracks me up that it was American Christmas music. At one point during the afternoon they played Johnny Cash's version of Little Drummer Boy. I also heard Elvis's Blue Christmas. Just odd to hear that in this setting.
This was a great playhouse they had set up right beside the restaurant area inside. We were able to eat while the kids played.
They both loved this area.
A couple of weeks ago we toured the Valkenburg Castle Ruins. This cave is all under the ruins. So from what I gathered from the information markers these pictures below are all under the church portion of the castle ruins.
This was a very beautiful Manger scene.
Carolyn keeps asking when we are going back to the playground in the tunnel.
When we got back to our car one of my fears of living here happened. We had left our lights on and our car wouldn't crank. I don't even have my own number memorized much less anyone else's here. After we went through the ones that we happened to have in our one cell phone (Brian and I share a cell phone now, even just saying that sounds weird) and we couldn't get anyone we had to start asking strangers for help. This nice man who couldn't speak much English pointed Brian in the direction of a garage and after 40 minutes and 2 garages later Brian came back with some jumper cables. Again a nice Dutch stranger helped jump us off and we were good to go.
It was one of those times that you just had to laugh at the situation. And lesson learned we need to buy jumper cables and there are nice people that will help a broke down family where ever you are... you just have to find them.
